The Ambassador of Ukraine in Malaysia H.E. Mr. Ihor V. Humennyi during his speech reminded the participants that on January 22, 1919 the Act of Unification of Ukrainian lands was proclaimed. Left-bank Ukraine has been withdrawn from Russia and the right-bank territory - from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and the Ukrainian people, separated for centuries, has been reunited on their land in the unified Ukrainian state.

Nowadays this important event has received the new dimension as all national Ukrainian holiday as it was proclaimed by the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated 30th December, 2011. The holiday has to inspirit the Ukrainian people for further consolidation and strengthening of mutual understanding.
