Today, on August 24, we mark the 34th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence — a day of pride, dignity, and unbreakable spirit. For more than eleven years now, the
Ukrainian people have shown the entire world that freedom and resilience cannot be taken away or destroyed.
It was especially moving to celebrate this day in Kuala Lumpur together with the Ukrainian community. Though small in number, our compatriots here embody true strength: thousands of kilometers away from their homeland, they preserve our language and traditions, support Ukraine in these challenging times, and remind the world of the price of freedom. Their commitment is yet another proof of the unbreakable Ukrainian spirit.
At the same time, this day reminds us of the importance of international cooperation. Ukraine and Malaysia have enormous potential to expand our partnership — from trade and investment to innovation, culture, and education. I am convinced that our relations will only grow stronger, as they are built on shared values of peace, development, and mutual respect.
My sincere gratitude goes to our Malaysian friends for standing with Ukraine in these difficult times.
Glory to Ukraine!
