On the 17th of January 2012 the Ambassador of Ukraine to Malaysia Mr. Ihor V. Humennyi had a meeting with the Y.A.B. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Abdul Khalid bin Ibrahim, the Chief Minister of the state of Selangor of Malaysia. The participants discussed in general the potential of the regional Ukrainian-Malaysian relations in the context of the recent intensification of bilateral trade and investment. The prospect of maintaining of the partnership between the state of Selangor of Malaysia and the Kyiv Regional State Administration of Ukraine were spoken about in a more detailed manner.
In this regard, the Chief Minister elaborated more on the uneven distribution of the federal budget between the regions (states) and stressed on the necessity to reduce the overwhelming bureaucracy procedures in the doing business in the country. He also welcomed the Ambassador’s idea of trying to establish the closer ties between businesses of both countries by organizing a business forum during the expected visit of Kyiv Regional State Administration of Ukraine to Selangor.
Ambassador accentuated the massive interest of Kyiv Regional State Administration of Ukraine to establish a partnership between the two regions. It was agreed that the consideration by the Malaysian side on the draft agreement on cooperation between Kyiv Regional State Administration of Ukraine and the Office of the Chief Minister of the State of Selangor of Malaysia will be accelerated in the nearest future.
