The Ambassador of Ukraine to Malaysia Ihor Humennyi met Dr. Rebecca Fatima Sta Maria, the Secretary General of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia. The Deputy Secretary General of MITI Mr. Mohd Ridzal Sheriff, the Senior Director of Economic and Trade Relations Division of MITI Mr. Wong Seng Foo, the Chief Executive Officer of Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation Dr. Wong Lai Sum, the Senior Deputy Director of Malaysia Investment Development Authority Mr. Ramli Bakar, the Deputy Director of Malaysia Investment Development Authority Mr. Phang Ah Tong and the experts of MITI participated in the meeting.

During the meeting the interlocutors discussed the situation and perspectives for the development of the trade and economical relations between Ukraine and Malaysia in the new realities, the necessity for diversification of economic ties, as well as the possibility for the cooperation in the field of energy machine building.

The necessity of the extension of the legal basis of bilateral economic relations has been also discussed during the meeting. In particular, both sides agreed to accelerate the terms of reference of the Ukrainian – Malaysia Joint Trade Committee to come in force. It was also agreed to speed up the preparation of the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of Malaysia for the Promotion and Protection of Investments.
