During his visit to Sarawak, on May 3, 2012 the Ambassador of Ukraine to Malaysia H.E. Mr. Ihor Humennyi has held the meeting with the representatives of the business circles of this state, in particular CEO of the State planning unit of the Chief Minister's Department of Sarawak, Ministry of industry and trade, the regional office of MIDA, Sarawak energy Berhad, Sarawak Tourism Board as well as Sarawak Chamber of commerce and industry and Sarawak Manufacturers Association.

In the course of the meeting the Ambassador of Ukraine has been given the presentation of economic and trade opportunities of Sarawak in the context of the development of cooperation with Ukraine. In his turn, the Ambassador has informed its participants about the economic potential and basic perspective areas for trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and Sarawak. In this connection the possibilities for the establishment of collaboration between Ukraine and Sarawak regarding the supply of LNG to Ukraine and the usage of energy equipment and participation of the Ukrainian energy companies in the development of the energy sector of Sarawak have been discussed. Given the nature of the agricultural output of Sarawak, the perspectives for the establishment of cooperation between Ukraine and this state in order to set up palm oil supply to our country as well as the export of the cereals from Ukraine to Sarawak have also been the subject of the discussion. During the meeting the interest of Sarawak authorities in the development of cooperation with Ukraine in the sphere of education and tourism has been expressed.

As a result the participants of the meeting have agreed to maintain the working contacts in order to ensure representation of Sarawak during the events that to be undertaken by the Embassy of Ukraine for the development of trade and economic cooperation between our country and Malaysia.
