On April 25, 2012 H.E. Ambassador of Ukraine to Malaysia Ihor V. Humennyi had the meeting with the Secretary-General of the Islamic Financial Services Board, Mr. Jaseem Ahmed.

The Secretary-General briefed the Ambassador on basic principles, structure and functioning of the organization in international banking and investment spheres. In addition, the representative of the IFSB outlined the features of «Islamic banking», demonstrated on particular examples the differences between conventional and Islamic approaches to banking.

In the context of the increasing popularity of «Islamic banking», the interlocutors discussed the possibility of cooperation between the financial institutions of Ukraine (the National Bank, the Ministry of Finance) and the IFSB. In this regard, Mr. Ahmed expressed his willingness to assist in organizing of the detailed presentation of the Islamic approach to banking for the representatives of financial and banking institutions of Ukraine. In addition, Mr. Ahmed informed about the ability of the IFSBto participate in the conference on the issues of the perspectives of the activity of financial and banking institutions from Islamic countries in Ukraine. As a result, the parties agreed to maintain working contacts.
