On the20thof March 2012 The Ambassador of Ukraine to Malaysia Mr. Ihor V. Humennyi had a meeting with Y.A.B. Datuk Seri Hj. Mohd. Ali bin Mohd. Rustam, the Chief Minister of the State of Melaka of Malaysia.

The interlocutors discussed in general the potential of the regional Ukrainian-Malaysian relations in the context of bilateral trade and investment. The perspective of the establishment of the partnership between the State of Melaka of Malaysia and the Odessa Regional State Administration of Ukraine were also determined.

In this regard, the Chief Minister emphasized the existence of the significant potential of the State of Melaka for the development of regional cooperation, particularly in transport, manufacturing industry, tourism, educational and medical fields. He also welcomed the Ambassador’s proposal to forge closer links between business structures of the both countries.

The Ambassador also stressed on the interest of the Odessa Regional State Administration of Ukraine in establishing a partnership between the two regions. It was agreed that the Malaysian side will consider in the nearest future a proposal of the Odessa Regional State Administration to pay the visit by a delegation of representatives of the Office of the Chief Minister of the State of Melaka to the City of Odessa during 2012.
