Since 10 till 12 of December, 2012 the nonresident Ambassador of Ukraine to Timor-Leste H.E. Mr. I.Humennyi has visited Timor-Leste with working visit.
During his stay in Timor-Leste H.E. Mr. I.Humennyi held the meetings with the newly elected President of Timor-Leste H.E. Mr. Taur Matan Ruak, and the members of the new Government of the country, in particular, with the Minister for Commerce, Industry and Environment of Timor-Leste, the Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources of Timor-Leste, the State Secretary for Defence of Timor-Leste and the Vice – Minister for Foreign Affairs of Timor-Leste. During the mentioned meetings the important role played by Ukraine as the nonpermanent member of the UN Security Council in the context of the adoption of the decisions in 1999 - 2001 that facilitated regaining the independence by this country, as well as the participation of the Ukrainian peacekeepers in the UN Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste were stressed.
In course of the meetings with the representatives of the Timor-Leste Political establishment, the perspectives for the development of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and this country in the sphere of trade and economy, education and technical cooperation, as well as in the agricultural sector were discussed. The necessary measures the implementation of which would provide an opportunity to raise the level of the cooperation between two countries were also determined.
