3. Political relations
Despite the lack of stable political dialogue between Ukraine and the Republic of the Philippines, the two countries actively interact within the framework of international organizations, in particular the UN.
Key bilateral contacts:
September 1995 – the meeting of the President of Ukraine with the President of the Republic of the Philippines on the sidelines of the 50th session of the UN General Assembly.
April 1997 – negotiations between the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Secretary (Minister) of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines within the framework of the Conference of Member States of the Non-Aligned Movement.
September 1997 – the meeting between the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine with the Secretary (Minister) of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines during the 52nd session of the UN General Assembly.
12-14.09.2002 – the official visit to Ukraine by the Chairman of the Senate of the Congress of the Republic of the Philippines.
11-14.07.2003 – the official visit to the Republic of the Philippines by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
23-25.06.2005 – the official visit to Ukraine by the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Congress of the Republic of the Philippines.

4. Trade and Investment Cooperation
In 2022, the Philippines ranked 13th in the volume of bilateral trade in goods with Ukraine among the countries in the Asia-Pacific region and 83rd globally.
In 2022, the total trade turnover between Ukraine and the Philippines decreased by 70.3%, amounting to 53.9 million US dollars. This decline in trade was due to a 92.6% reduction in Ukrainian exports to the Philippines, totaling 8.6 million US dollars. Imports of Filipino goods to Ukraine decreased by 30.0%, amounting to 45.2 million US dollars. The negative balance of foreign trade operations for Ukraine amounted to 36.6 million US dollars.
During the period from January to July 2023, the trade turnover between Ukraine and the Philippines increased by 58.2% compared to the same period in 2022, and amounted to 38.2 million US dollars. During this period, Ukrainian exports to the Philippines amounted to 4.0 million US dollars, decreasing by 32.3%, while imports from the Philippines to Ukraine amounted to 34.2 million US dollars, increasing by 87.5%. The trade balance for Ukraine remained negative, standing at 30.1 million US dollars.
In the January-July 2023 period, the main groups of goods of exports to the Philippines were: milk and dairy products, poultry eggs (36.6%, 1.4 million US dollars, a decrease of 18.4%), pharmaceutical products (12.6%, 0.50 million US dollars, an increase of 6.4%), animal or vegetable fats and oils (10.0%, 0.40 million US dollars, a decrease of 42.2%), cereals (8.7%, 0.34 million US dollars, a decrease of 50.9%), plastics, polymer materials (8.3%, 0.33 million US dollars, an increase of 98.0%).
The structure of imports from the Philippines was dominated by: electrical machinery (72.2%, 24.6 million US dollars, +98.9%), nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery (15.8%, 5.4 million US dollars, +54.5%), optical and photographic apparatus (3.4%, 1.1 million US dollars, +39.3%), and processed vegetable products (1.2%, 0.41 million US dollars, +11.0%).
7 bilateral agreements have been concluded between Ukraine and the Republic of the Philippines.
6. Ukrainian community
As of 2023, around 200 Ukrainians are residing in the Republic of the Philippines.
