On April 1, 2011 H.E. Mr. Ihor V. Humennyi, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Malaysia held the meeting with Dato’ Sri Hj. Abu Kassim bin Mohamed, Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
During the conversation the Ambassador of Ukraine underlined that nowadays the measures to counter and prevent corruption in Ukraine have been intensified significantly. Such measures include among others the realization of a number of the President’s initiatives in lawmaking and practical spheres. In order to strengthen the anticorruption policy in Ukraine the good practices of foreign states in the anticorruption activity are being also carefully studied. In this context, the Ambassador proposed to establish the cooperation on the exchange of experience between the Malaysian Commission and the competent authorities of Ukraine.
On his part, Dato’ Sri Hj. Abu Kassim bin Mohamed informed that Malaysia has reached the substantial results in the anticorruption activity. One of the important steps in this direction became the reformation of the Anticorruption Committee in 2009. Furthermore, during the last years there has been adopted a number of legislation acts in Malaysia on strengthening of the legal accountability for the corruption crimes as well as on broadening of the competent authorities’ powers on combating corruption.
The Chief Commissioner supported the Ambassador’s proposal on the establishment of the cooperation between the anticorruption competent authorities of both countries. In this context, it was agreed to consider also a possibility to initiate the collaboration between the educational institutions that are responsible for the personnel training of the anticorruption state organs.
