On March 31, 2010 H.E. Mr. Ihor V. Humennyi, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Malaysia, visited the University of Malaya, the oldest and one of the largest universities in Malaysia, where he held a meeting its head - the Vice-Chancellor Datuk Dr. Ghauth Jasmon.

During the conversation the Ambassador of Ukraine underlined that education is among the promising directions of the bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Malaysia. He, therefore, stressed on the great importance of the direct links between interested universities of both countries that should facilitate the development of such cooperation.

In this context H.E. Mr. Ihor V. Humennyi proposed to consider a possibility to establish the cooperation between the National University of Malaysia and the Kyiv National University, as well as with several other well-known Ukrainian universities including Kiev Polytechnic University and National Medical University of Ukraine.

Professor Datuk Dr. Ghauth Jasmon, on his part, confirmed that due to the high demand for higher education in Malaysia the cooperation between Ukraine and Malaysia in the sphere of education has broad potential. The Vice-Chancellor showed a great interest in arranging the visit of the Malaysian University’s group of specialists to Ukraine and also expressed his readiness to receive the representatives of the interested Ukrainian universities in Malaysia.

It was agreed at the meeting to maintain further contacts in order to elaborate in details on the issue of the establishment of the cooperation between Malaysian University and the Ukrainian higher education institutions.
