On January 27, 2010 H.E. Mr. Ihor V. Humennyi, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Malaysia, visited the National University of Malaysia where he held a meeting with the Vice-Chancellor Y.Bhg. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Sharifah Hapsah bt Syed Hasan Shahabudin.

During the conversation the Ambassador of Ukraine underlined that education is among the promising directions of the bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Malaysia. He, therefore, stressed on the great importance of the direct links between interested universities of both countries that should facilitate the development of such cooperation.

In this context H.E. Mr. Ihor V. Humennyi proposed to consider a possibility to establish the cooperation between the National University of Malaysia and the Kyiv National University. The Ukrainian Ambassador stated that Kyiv National University is one of the oldest and leading educational institutions in Ukraine and briefed the counterpart on its structure and possibilities.

The Vice-Chancellor, on her part, confirmed that due to the high demand for higher education in Malaysia the cooperation between Ukraine and Malaysia in the sphere of education has broad potential. She showed a great interest in the establishment of the interaction with the Ukrainian University and expressed her readiness for active cooperation with this institution.
