On June 23, 2010 H.E. Mr. Igor Lossovskyi, Ambassador of Ukraine to Malaysia, held a meeting with YB. Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin, Minister of Higher Education of Malaysia and discussed the current stage and perspectives of cooperation between two countries in the sphere of education.
Ambassador of Ukraine underlined that education remains one of the most perspective area of cooperation between Ukraine and Malaysia, taking into account that about one thousand Malaysian students are currently studying medicine at the Ukrainian universities. In this regard it was emphasized on the necessity of accreditation of the Ukrainian universities in Malaysia, which would facilitate the cooperation. The Ukrainian Ambassador proposed also to consider a possibility of sending Malaysian students to study at the Ukrainian universities of technical specialization.
YB. Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin expressed the interest in further development of mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of education. Malaysian Minister stressed on the need of finalizing of elaboration of the draft Memorandum of Understanding between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of Malaysia on the Cooperation in the Field of Education. As it was underlined by the Minister, the above revised Memorandum contains a provision on the establishment of the Joint High Level Working Group, which will serve to find solutions of vital issues of bilateral cooperation in the sphere of education. Furthermore, the Malaysian Minister expressed great interest in the possibility for Malaysian students to study at the Ukrainian universities of technical specialization.
