On November 1-5, 2012 the delegation of the Kyiv Regional State Administration headed by the Deputy Head Mr. Y.Golovin held their first visit to Malaysia, the Selangor state in particular. The delegation also included the Head of the Directorate general of economy of the Kyiv Regional State Administration Mr. V.Koval, Member of the Kiev regional council (parliament) Mr. R.Badayev, as well as the representatives of the largest dairy enterprises of Ukraine Mr. M.Yavtushenko, Mr. V.Putiyenko and Mr. I.Maslov.
This visit was the result of the joint work of the Embassy and the Kyiv Regional State Administration in the development of regional cooperation between Ukraine and Malaysia.
The central event of the visit was the meeting with the Y.A.B. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Abdul Khalid bin Ibrahim, the Chief Minister of the state of Selangor of Malaysia. The participants discussed the potential of the regional Ukrainian-Malaysian relations in the context of the recent intensification of bilateral trade and investment. The parties accentuated the massive interest of both of them to establish a partnership between the two regions. It was agreed that the consideration on the draft agreement on cooperation between Kyiv Regional State Administration of Ukraine and the Office of the Chief Minister of the Selangor State of Malaysia will be accelerated in the nearest future. The representatives of the Kyiv Regional State Administration invited the Chief Minister of the Selangor to visit Kyiv region.
During the visit, the delegation met the representatives of the local business community (Selangor Chamber of commerce), development and investment agencies (MIDA), the administration of the free economic zone of Port Klang (PKFZ), as well as the information technology and tourism companies of Selangor (MSC, Tourism Selangor Sdn Bhd). The parties outlined the possibility of the economic cooperation and some promising projects in the context of inter-regional cooperation between the Kyiv region and the State of Selangor. In particular, they discussed the possibility of attracting investments to the agricultural sector (cereals, dairy products), tourism development and expansion of the bilateral trade.
The representatives of the Kyiv Regional State Administration visited a number of industrial enterprises, including the leading manufacturing factory in packaging, bakery, palm plantations and the palm oil processing plant, the chocolate factory etc. During these events the Ukrainian delegation was acquainted with the production process of the mentioned enterprises and the business negotiations were also held.
